Spring Series 2023 - Heat Decarbonisation: Opportunities, Challenges and Cooperation

29/03/2023 12:00 - 14:00
Online

These lunchtime events will focus on renewable energy technologies that communities are using. The aim of this year’s Spring Series is to give our network the opportunity to connect, collaborate and find space to support each other.

Community Energy England wants to work with members to scale the sector, to give communities all over the country cheaper energy and a real stake in the evolving energy system.

A key area for expansion must be the provision of low-carbon heat. This will be a challenging new area for many community energy organisations, dealing with new technologies, major works on building fabric and infrastructure as well as innovative financing mechanisms to pay for it all. We have set up a ‘low-carbon community heat working group’ which meets monthly.

In this event we will hear from experts who offer their communities tailored support around energy efficiency, bringing down bills and paving the way for low-carbon heating systems.

This is an online event that seeks to help community energy practitioners who are considering or in the process of developing heat projects in their communities to identify the challenges, options and solutions.

Speakers include:

  • Kate Gilmartin, British Hydro Association and convenor of CEE’s Heat Working Group (previously RCEF officer at the NW Energy Hub.)
  • Jonathan Atkinson, Carbon Coop and People Powered Retrofit
  • Martin Crane, Carbon Alternatives specialising in heat networks (and CEE director)
  • Kayla Ente, Brighton and Hove Energy Services Coop, BHESCo
