Project Manager

Community Energy Wales Cardiff £30,000 – 6 month contract initially, part time role would be considered

Community Energy Wales is seeking a dynamic individual to play a crucial role in developing and delivering key services that generate income for the organisation and support the development of new services.  In particular this role will include the delivery of 2 significant pieces of work.  To project manage the delivery of the remainder of the Energy Local contract supporting local communities to benefit from cheaper locally sourced energy and to support the delivery of current and future Renewable Energy Schemes and shared ownership schemes currently in development.  These exciting opportunities are highly innovative.

For the Energy local project you will coordinate and manage the delivery of the Local Renewable Energy For Rural Wales (LRERW) progamme funded by the Rural Development Plan Programme of WEFO. The aim of the Programme is to bring together partners to establish a complex supply chain that can deliver local renewable energy to electricity customers using a unique business model to increase the return to generators whilst reducing household bills by developing a local market for balancing power. This supply chain will support up to 25 pilots across Wales but will also be capable of delivering further examples at the end of the project without further subsidy.

The Renewable Energy projects include the first shared ownership project of its kind in Wales and with the Welsh Government’s ambition for all renewable energy projects to have an element of local ownership by 2020 we hope that it is the first of many.  In addition, we are developing other Energy projects that are in the early stages of development. The role requires excellent communications skills, experience of stakeholder and community engagement, effective project management and report writing as well as the ability to be flexible, enterprising and self motivated.  You will have excellent people skills and a genuine passion and commitment for Renewable Energy, sustainability and community development.  The ability to communicate in Welsh will be highly desirable for this role.  There may be further opportunities for the community consultation element of the Innogy project which will require someone who is able to communicate in Welsh.
