CEE's Vision: Putting people at the heart of the energy system.

CEE's Mission: To support and accelerate the transition to a fair, low carbon and community-led energy system.

To do this, CEE…

  • Provides a single unified voice for the Community Energy sector to government, industry and press.
  • Shares best practice from the sector and work with innovators to develop new ideas.
  • Brings communities, businesses, local authorities and experts together and promote partnership working.
  • Set up and works with local hubs to facilitate a supportive environment in which community energy projects can flourish.

The Challenge: CEE is committed to helping create the conditions within which the community energy sector can rapidly grow and scale such that community energy projects become a normal part of the work of local communities and the organisations that support them.

In order to create this rapid growth the community energy sector will need to adapt to new forms of funding and engage proactively with the energy market and traditional energy sector partners, whilst still holding true to the core principles that define community action.

The Aim: CEE acts as a representative body for community energy organisations developing renewable energy and energy efficiency projects and those that support and work with them. It provides a forum and voice for experienced community groups and supports new entrants. It is inclusive, working with the wider community energy sector including commercial and public sector partners and service providers.
