Community Energy England and Community Energy Wales are currently collecting data for the second State of the Sector Report, the first of which set a benchmark for annual community energy generation, energy savings and CO2 reduction projects in England, Wales and Northern Ireland up until the end of 2016.
The State of the Sector Report is crucial in helping us to decide how to influence government policy over the next 12 months and in raising awareness of the value of community energy. It is therefore very important for us to get an accurate view of activity across the community energy sector. The report will also feed into the ongoing work of Community Energy England and Community Energy Wales, supporting and aiding communities to develop their own low carbon projects.
The State of the Sector 2018 survey is designed to gather information about community energy organisations in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. This survey aims to capture information on:
- Your organisation;
- Geographical information (e.g. project sites);
- Technical project information (e.g. generation capacities);
- Project financing information (e.g. development and capital finance);
- Community benefit funding;
- Barriers to your organisation’s work;
- Your organisation’s future plans.
With this in mind, if you are going to complete the survey, please ensure an appropriate individual from your organisation is completing the survey and that you have as much information to hand as possible.
**If your organisation filled out the previous State of the Sector survey in January 2017, please wait for the State of the Sector team to contact you with your organisation’s tailored survey**
If you are unsure whether your organisation has previously completed the survey, please contact email@example.com
We are not only interested in organisations and projects that are generating energy and reducing carbon, we want to know about projects which have stalled. If we know details of why projects stall, we can work with community groups, local authorities and government to ensure other groups don't meet a similar fate, and we can see if there are ways that such projects can be resurrected. To do this, we have devised a separate survey.
