Are you a community energy group wanting to work with your local Council to get solar PV on your public buildings?
Funded by the Greater South East Net Zero Hub, Community Energy Pathways has been working with Dr Rachel Coxcoon from Climate Guide on a project to improve collaboration between community energy groups and local authorities by removing the blockers that so often scupper these projects from the outset.
The Guide to Community Solar on Council Assets is due to be published in June. It will provide guidance to local Officers and Councillors on how to expedite and facilitate community-owned solar projects, by providing a set of editable resources that Councils can use to kick off and then expedite the process of adopting a supportive strategy, and dealing with the main barriers relating to procurement and legal that are often raised.
This webinar and the Guide also aim to shine a light for community energy group members on how local government works, and explain how to work the system more efficiently to create mutually beneficial working partnerships in time to capitalise on GB Energy funding.
Join us for this session specifically for community energy groups on the Guide at 10am on Thursday 28th May, and bring your questions or experiences to help inform the draft Guide before it is finalised.
What’s the format?
Dr Rachel Coxcoon will run through the draft Guide, how it’s intended to be used by Council Officers and Councillors, and which elements are most important for community energy groups to be aware of.
There will then be a Q&A and an opportunity for you to share your experiences of any specific blockers or solutions not addressed by the Guide.
