There is a big focus across the country on community energy right now, encouraging community buildings to consider renewable technologies and become more energy efficient. But what does that mean for your buildings & communities, what is the benefit and how can you get involved.

The average cost of a fuel bill for a community building is between £3,000 and £9,000, with some larger organisation’s bills skyrocketing into double figures. Faith and community organisations are a lifeline for many across Kirklees. With statutory services stretched and long waiting list to access them, they provide much needed support and services to many people in need across the area. Cost savings like this could pay for upgrades to buildings, help your centre to stay open longer and provide more services or start new projects based on what your communities need.

Community energy means understanding, generating, using, owning, and saving energy in your community. Whether you are a group, community or faith organisation or just interested in starting a community energy project, this session is for you. Find out about the support you could receive to make a start on making your building warmer, energy efficient and saving money to put back into your community.

We are running a Community Energy Information Session on the 6th August 6-8pm at the Huddersfield Mission, in partnership with Kirklees Council, Ashden, NE & Yorks Net Zero Hub, Energy for All and Bradford Community Energy, who have delivered a project across three community centres in Bradford.
