Summary: A government grant to help cover the upfront cost of replacing a fossil fuel heating system with an air source or ground source heat pump.

Who can apply?

• Property must be in England or Wales
• Must be replacing an existing fossil fuel heating system (gas, oil, LPG, or direct electric)
• Your EPC must not show outstanding loft or cavity wall insulation recommendations (or those measures must already be completed)
• Must use an MCS-certified installer registered on the BUS scheme
• Available to homeowners and some landlords — installer checks eligibility at quote stage

What will it fund?

• £7,500 towards an air source heat pump (sometimes called an air-to-water heat pump)
• £7,500 towards a ground source heat pump (including water source heat pumps and those on shared ground loops)
• £5,000 towards a biomass boiler
• £2,500 towards an air-to-air heat pump
