Summary: The Green Roots programme aims to help nature thrive in the city by giving London communities active ways to transform their local spaces.
Who can apply? Only formally-constituted organisations, that are not-for-profit, can apply. This means you must have an organisational bank account and be able to enter into legal contracts. Private individuals cannot apply.
Supported projects can last up to two years
What will it fund? projects in London that improve its:
- blue spaces – including wetlands, rivers and sustainable drainage. This means making London’s neighbourhoods healthier, more nature-rich and climate resilient, so they are higher quality and natural spaces are better connected to each other
- green spaces – including parks, trees and community gardens. This means ensuring access to green and blue infrastructure and its benefits for all Londoners, so they feel welcome and comfortable in green and blue spaces. It also means involving diverse groups in management and decision making.
