2025 Award Finalist: Supportive Local Authority: Bath and North East Somerset Council

This partnership has enabled school rooftop solar projects, community hydro, home energy efficiency schemes, and retrofit advice for listed buildings, while fostering strong community engagement through volunteer Energy Champions and networks like the Community Energy Network. The council has provided practical support, funding, and policy backing, making it easier for BWCE and local groups to deliver projects and scale impact. Judges praised the council’s approach as a “game changer,” noting it as a model of a true, long-term partnership that creates a supportive environment for community energy and a just transition.
