2025 Award Finalist: Community Energy Excellence (Large): Bath and West Community Energy

Bath and West Community Energy (BWCE) has grown into a high-profile, well-established community energy group, with 14.6 MW of renewable capacity powering 5,000 homes and 38 projects including solar, hydro, and ground-mounted arrays. Over the past year, they have expanded home energy retrofit services, run local supply pilots, and raised £1.5 million through a share offer, all while engaging the community through events, inclusive outreach, and the Community Energy Network. Their partnerships with councils, local organisations, and other community energy groups help share expertise and inspire action. Judges noted BWCE’s “great positive impact” and praised them as a group “continually developing and expanding whilst remaining rooted in their community.”
