2025 Award Finalist: Collaboration in Community Energy: Staffordshire Community Energy
27 October 2025
Staffordshire Community Energy
Staffordshire Community Energy’s Keep Warm, Keep Well project is an inspiring collaboration between the community energy sector, the NHS, and a local fuel poverty charity. Working with University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust and Beat the Cold, the partnership installed solar panels across eight hospital roofs, cutting carbon emissions and energy costs while funding vital support for patients struggling with cold homes. Since 2016, over 1,500 patients have received life-changing advice and assistance, improving health outcomes and reducing hospital readmissions. Judges praised this pioneering project for its clear, evidence-based impact, its strong collaborative model linking energy and health, and the exceptional effort Staffordshire Community Energy has made to share learning and expand the approach across Staffordshire and beyond.
