Seeing is Believing – North East and Yorkshire

Seeing is Believing is a programme funded by the North East and Yorkshire Net Zero Hub designed to share inspiring stories from people already doing great things in community energy through site visits, networking events and matchmaking, to support new connections and projects.

Current project

Community Energy Go

Community Energy Go connects community groups across England with free expert advice, practical tools and hands-on support to make their community energy projects happen. The first project of its kind to cover the whole of England, we’re targeting areas with low community-energy activity to work towards energy justice across the country.

Current project

Energy Learning Network (ELN)

This UK-wide network, funded by The National Lottery Climate Action Fund, shares learning and supports collaboration between communities acting on energy, as well as between the organisations that support them across the UK. By sparking collaboration and knowledge-sharing, the network empowers organisations across the UK to make their activities even more impactful and inclusive.

Current project

Net Zero Terrace Streets (NZTS)

A multi award-winning Innovate UK funded project working to produce a place-based, whole systems, replicable and scalable model for the decarbonisation of terraced housing. The goal is healthy, warm homes with affordable, low carbon energy at no upfront cost .

Delivered by a number of partners, including Community Energy England, and led by Rossendale Valley Energy.

Completed Project

Community Heat Development Unit (CHDU)

Led by Sharenergy and funded by the Energy Redress Scheme, the Community Heat Development Unit was an ambitious research and innovation project that aimed to jumpstart a wave of community owned heat networks in the UK. The 18-month project brought a data-led approach to identifying where the best chances for successful community heat networks are and developed a business model to support.

Delivered by Sharenergy, Community Energy England, Marches Energy Agency, Carbon Alternatives and Lightfoot.
