Up the Energy launches Crowdfunder
Community Energy EnglandUp the Energy launches Crowdfunder to scale community energy movement across UK
A new national campaign, Up the Energy, has launched a Crowdfunder to help grow the community energy movement and enable more people to take part in building a fairer, cleaner energy system.
The campaign is designed to support communities across England to generate their own renewable energy, reduce carbon emissions, cut energy bills, and keep the benefits of clean energy locally owned and reinvested.
The Crowdfunder launch marks a key moment for the campaign, with all public donations now open. Thanks to match funding from Aviva, every donation made through the Crowdfunder will have double the impact, helping to unlock greater support for community energy projects and accelerate local climate action.
Up the Energy is led by Community Energy England, working alongside a wide range of partners from across the community energy sector. The campaign aims to raise awareness of community energy and increase participation by providing practical tools, resources, and funding to help communities get started and scale their projects.
A newly released campaign film has also been released to highlight the role community energy can play in delivering a more equitable and sustainable energy system.
There are two key ways to support the campaign:
Donate: Contributions of any size will help grow the movement, with donations up to £250 matched by Aviva to double their impact.
Share the campaign: Supporters are encouraged to spread the word using the campaign activation pack, which includes ready-to-use email templates, social media posts, WhatsApp messages, and other resources.
The activation pack is designed to make it easy for individuals and organisations to support the campaign and help it reach new audiences quickly.
A number of organisations and sector partners have already pledged support for the campaign, including leading voices from across the community energy sector.
