We are excited to invite you to our workshop on community hydrogen projects, which will be held in a hybrid format at Cranfield University. You are welcome to join us either in person or virtually. This workshop, funded by the Global Research Fund and in partnership with Nuertingen-Geislingen University, aims to exchange knowledge and explore the potential for involving community hydrogen projects in the UK.
Date: 25th July 2024
Time: 2 PM to 5 PM
Location: Cranfield University
Community energy projects have the potential to sell the generated renewable electricity to hydrogen projects and generate income from the surplus electricity. Although community hydrogen projects are still relatively uncommon, successful examples in Bavaria, Germany, have demonstrated their technical feasibility. Experiences from Germany highlight the potential benefits of involving local communities in green hydrogen production, which can help mitigate the "not in my backyard" sentiment and secure necessary local investment in renewable generation.
Please register your attendance at the "Green Hydrogen for Community Empowerment" workshop on Eventbrite here.
We are pleased to announce presentations from:
• Daniel Caspari, Senior Consultant, Cooperative Association of Bavaria (GVB), Munich, Germany
• Prof. Carsten Herbes, Nuertingen-Geislingen University
During the workshop, we will discuss the feasibility, benefits, and challenges of developing similar projects in the UK. Your insights and expertise would greatly enrich our discussions.
