Community energy activity in the capital is growing fast with new groups and new projects coming forward on a steady basis.

This success is largely owed to the close collaboration between groups and local government which has resulted in a number of support programmes in place to accelerate the deployment of solar installations, energy efficiency retrofits - including LED lighting installs - and energy efficiency advice, and fuel poverty awareness workshops.

The Mayor’s London Community Energy Fund (LCEF) has provided five rounds of funding, supporting the development of 150 projects across the city.

In addition, community energy funds in CamdenHackneyHaringeyHounslow, Lewisham, Islington and Southwark - with more to come - have all boosted local community climate action.

Community Energy London is hosting this event to:

  • Highlight existing council community funds and outline projects they have supported
  • The link between these funds and carbon offset policies
  • Best practice when establishing community climate funds.
