The Westmill Wind Farm and Solar Park is a pioneering community energy hub, located in Oxfordshire near the Wiltshire border.
Completed in 2011, Westmill is unique with both wind and solar community-owned electricity generation on one site. In fact, the solar park was the first community-owned of its kind in the UK.
This summer we are excited to be hosting an Open Day.
This celebration is to promote Westmill’s community ownership and to provide a fun, educational visit for members, their families and the local community.
To celebrate community-owned energy, there will be a schedule of presentations and workshops for visitors, a range of engaging educational activities for children, solar and turbine tours, live music, food and refreshments and much more besides!
Site tours and demonstrations will offer an insight into renewable energy, how the Westmill turbines work, with the opportunity to see inside a 49m turbine and to learn about the history of the site and the background to installation of the five turbines and over twenty-thousand solar panels.
We would love you to join us at Westmill to help celebrate what has been achieved with community-owned energy ans to see how you too can make a difference!
