Operations Support

Energy Local Remote working with occasional meetings across the UK, and travel to provide training sessions. £28,000 - £30,000 FTE

Overview of Tasks

Task 1: Operations

A key part of the role will be to support with business operations and strategy. You will work with the Operations Director and other team members to improve efficiency and develop systems to enable Energy Local to scale. You must be comfortable communicating with all members of the team and leading on tasks.

Task 2: Club development

You will support new Clubs to develop. In the first instance you will support the Energy Local team with mapping and financial modelling. You will also be trained to take new Clubs from initial contact with Energy Local through to launch, which will include:

  • First communications
  • Creating proposals
  • Mapping and modelling
  • Ensuring Clubs follow the Energy Local process
  • Training local Advisors

You will also lead on the development of some Clubs, ensuring that tasks are completed and processes are followed correctly by Club Advisors and Officials.


Other requirements

You will be required to travel to in-person team meet ups once every 3 months and occasionally on other occasions. You will also be required to travel to provide training sessions up to once per month. These run over two days so you will need to be able to stay overnight if travelling a distance. We require staff to travel to work events by public transport wherever possible. All travel and accommodation costs will be reimbursed.

You must be proficient in using Microsoft Office and Google software for record keeping, and creating and updating documents

You will be competent in working within a project management framework, providing regular updates and contributing to discussions in management meetings.

You will need to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.

You will assist with administrative duties as required, including proofreading documents, cleaning folders and helping to manage the Energy Local portal.


Skills and expertise

Required

Analytical skills.

Fast learner; you will need to understand the basics of every area of the business.

Good IT skills and able to get up to speed on different software quickly.

Good organisational skills 

Experience in customer facing roles.

Confidence to deliver training sessions, including technical aspects, with up to 12 participants.

Excellent communication skills with community members and professionals.

Interest in community energy and/or working with communities.

Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.

Self-motivation.

Team working.

Desirable

Educated to degree level or above.

Evidence of technical/analytical skills in a previous role.

Experience of working in operations and/or strategy.

Experience of working with communities.

Able to speak and write Welsh.


Salary and hours

20 hours per week, FTE £28,000 – £30,000

Remote working with occasional meetings across the UK, and travel to provide training sessions.

Flexible working – hours to be spread over 4-5 days per week.

33 days holiday (pro rata FTE) including Bank Holidays
