Closure of Feed-In and Export Tariff

Despite 90% of respondents being against the proposed changes, the Export Tariff will close to new applications at the same time as the Feed-In Tariff (31st March 2019). A small chink of light is that BEIS has indicated that an alternative version of the export tariff will be put forward for small-scale renewables.

Community energy installations will continue to be able to access pre-accreditation and pre-registration as per the previous timescales. However, be aware that getting a FiT in either of these cases will be dependent on there still be money in the pot when the application for accreditation is made to your FIT licensee.

You can see BEIS’ full response to the consultation here.

Thank you to all of you who submitted a response, fed into our response and got involved with the campaigns we supported, such as Solar Trade Association and 10:10’s Fair for Solar campaign, Green Great Britain Week lobbying and Regen’s MP letter campaign.

This is not, however, the end of the campaigning process. CEE is meeting with officials from BEIS in the New Year and we are expecting the consultation on future support mechanisms for small-scale low-carbon generation to be published early January (you can see our response to the original call for evidence here).
