Community Energy Awards deferred until 2021 - fertile ground needs a fallow year

03/08/2020

Community Energy England has taken the decision to defer the 2020 Community Energy Awards and plan for a double celebration of the sector's achievements in 2021. The sector's health and wellbeing is a priority for Community Energy England and we feel that 2020 is not the time to bring people together in one room. The Community Energy Awards is undoubtedly as much about the interactions and networking as it is the ceremony and awards, this is not something that is not sufficiently replicable via Zoom. COVID19 has impacted the sector in varying ways and it was determined that 2020 will be a year that will be remembered, but not one that necessarily needs celebrating at this time. We will continue to showcase the sector in other ways, such as through our website, newsletters, social media and webinars. As such, we encourage our members to keep in touch with us, sharing success stories, or any general news you would like us to share. We hope that the sector understands the rationale for a fallow year and will join us for a hopefully post-COVID celebration in 2021.
