Community Energy UK State of the Sector survey and report paused for 2023

24/02/2023

Our community energy UK State of the Sector survey and report has provided detailed insight into the UK community energy sector since 2017. After 6 years of running the survey and producing the report annually, CEE have decided to use this year to pause the research, take stock and assess how we can further improve the survey and the impact that it has.

We will produce a brief report on key trends in the summer, but we will not be sending a survey out to groups this year. Instead, we will work with members to redesign the data capture and survey process to work better for our members, and explore new ways to present and disseminate the data to ensure maximum impact in 2024 and beyond.

We will continue to work with our partners, Community Energy Scotland and Community Energy Wales, as well as the Distribution Network Operators who use our data to understand and work with the community energy sector in their licence areas. In addition, we will be seeking new partners to expand the quality and influence of the research, and to establish a more sustainable funding model for the research.

Ultimately, the survey process must work for and add value for our members and so we will be reaching out to you over the next few months for your views and input. If you would like to feed in immediately, we have added some State of the Sector questions to our member feedback form. We would really value your input and ideas.

Thank you to all of our members for your continued contributions to the CEE network. With your help we can enhance the process, quality and influence of the State of the Sector research in 2024 and beyond.

Please note: Community Energy Wales will create a State of the Sector report this year, though the process will be a little different. CEW will be in contact soon with their members directly to elaborate on the plans for this year.
